Kimball Engineering works as an extension to government building departments. We specialize in providing plan review services for both simple and complex commercial, industrial and residential projects. All plans are reviewed to ensure their compliance with adopted state and local codes as well as referenced standards. These services are provided for the benefit of City, County, State and Federal agencies as well as for school districts.
Complete Plan Review Services
Our complete plan review services can include building, accessibility, structural, fire & life safety, energy, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical reviews. Each reviewer is well-recognized in their field of expertise and maintains the appropriate ICC and third-party certifications necessary for the portions of the project they review. Resumes for each reviewer can be provided upon request.
Comments from each reviewer are compiled and formatted into a clear and concise document that is then sent to the building department. Review comments can be sent directly to the permit applicant, owner, design professional(s), and/or contractor if requested by the municipality.
Efficient Turn Around Time
Plan reviews are typically completed within nine (9) business days, with follow-up taking a maximum of five (5) working days. More complex projects may require additional time to review. If desired, special arrangements can be made to expedite plan reviews. In many cases plans may be submitted electronically or shipped next-day air using Kimball Engineering’s UPS account.
High Level of Customer Service
Kimball Engineering strives to provide the highest level of customer service to our clients. To that end we also provide additional services to aid building departments in the plan review process. Some of these items include providing electronic reviews, the creation of handouts to streamline the permitting process, and providing specialized training to help building officials and design professionals understand the requirements of the adopted building codes. Our staff is also available at any time to help answer questions, to seek a code opinion, or to sit in during preliminary design review meetings.
